I started with the second volume, The Mammoth Book of More Historical Whodunnits, and enjoyed it so much that I went out and got a copy of this one as well. I really liked the time-span of story settings, and the best part was the mystery that was written down over years ago!/5(5).   Prime historical crimes, in differnt settings, seen thru the eyes of each individual writer with each sleuth thoroughly enjoyable and set apart by their crime-solving methods. A really good book for the night stand so you can read one or two stories and pick the order in which you read them/5(4).

This companion edition to the highly successful Mammoth Book of Historical Whodunits contains a wealth of fictional detectives, including Brother Cadfael, cowboy sleuth Ben Snow, and newcomers to the profession such as William Shakespeare and Hans Christian Andersen.4/5(1). Mammoth series regular Mike Ashley (The Mammoth Book of Historical Whodunits, etc.) returns with his latest crime reference doorstopper, The Mammoth Encyclopedia of Crime Fiction. From cozies to.
